If you’re feeling down, here’s something simple you can do: plant a tree. Sounds random, right? But trust me, it works. It might not solve your problem immediately, but it does something to your mind something calming, something healing.
I started doing this years ago. Every time I felt sad, frustrated, or just stuck, I’d go out and buy a small plant. Sometimes it was a little bonsai, other times just a random potted plant I thought looked nice. I’d bring it home, find a good spot, and carefully plant it. I never thought too much about it — I just did it because it felt good in the moment.
Fast forward a few years. Last week, I had one of those days where everything felt heavy. So I went outside to sit in my garden. That’s when it hit me. All around me, there were these beautiful green plants big ones, small ones, some climbing up the fence and I realized, I planted every single one of these.
And here’s the funny part: I was still sad, but sitting in that garden made it feel… lighter. Like the sadness wasn’t as sharp anymore.
Of course, there’s a catch. I stayed out there so long that mosquitoes went to town on me. My legs were covered in bites. But you know what? Even that didn’t ruin the moment.
