Sometimes, it’s hard to just say no to something. Just because we don’t have time for a social event or workout today, doesn’t mean that the guilt of missing out should swallow us whole. On the contrary! We should be asking ourselves these 15 questions rather than letting guilt ruin another day.
1. Why am I avoiding this?
It’s often easy to tell why we’d like to avoid something because it’s not always pleasant. There’s a problem or an inconvenience that we’re trying to avoid. And that’s okay! Just be honest with yourself about why you’re saying no in the first place. Accept it, and then move on to the next question.
2. How can I say yes, instead?
This is a good time to consider alternatives. Sometimes, saying no is the best option because it means we’re saying yes to something else that could be much better for us. When this happens, we can ask ourselves “How will I feel when I’m not doing something? Will I regret not doing it?” If the answer is yes, then let it go. It’s okay to say no!
The next question should be: “What else do I have to deal with at this moment which will take my focus away from the new thing?” This is a great question to ask yourself while you’re still deciding whether or not you want to do…
