How did other countries go about colonizing Africa differently than the US?

They sought to export natural resources and agricultural products, while also investing in infrastructure such as roads and railways.

The British, on the other hand, took a more paternalistic approach to colonization, with the goal of civilizing and Christianizing the African people.
