9 Ways To Stand Up For Yourself In The Most Intimidating Situations
You’ve probably been in a situation where you wish you hadn’t been so timid. You might have wanted to speak your mind, but felt intimidated and didn’t say what was on your mind.
You might have held back from expressing an opinion or disagreeing with someone because it seemed like they would be more offended if you did. It’s hard to know how to stand up for yourself without feeling rude or offending others, but here are a few tips on how to do just that!
1) Remember the difference between assertiveness and aggression
Assertiveness is about standing up for yourself respectfully while being considerate of other people’s feelings as well as being self-respectful. Aggression is being pushy, mean, or rude to others. Know the difference between the two so you don’t cross the line.
2) Don’t be afraid to disagree with people
Disagreement is an important part of life, and it’s not always easy to disagree with people. We all have different opinions and views but that doesn’t mean that we can’t respect someone or their point of view even if we don’t agree with them 100%.
