With the holidays coming up, it’s hard not to make a mental list of all the things we want to buy for our loved ones. But before you whip out your credit card and go on a spending spree, hear us out:

Sometimes we’re faced with situations where we don’t know what to buy someone close to us for their birthday or Christmas. After examining my own behavior and ending up with piles of unused clothes in my closet, I decided not to buy things on impulse anymore. The following pieces of advice are things that have helped me stop spending money mindlessly on items I do not need.
1. Be aware of where you’re buying things from.
We’re not encouraging you to buy less things for your friends and family, but it’s better to think before you buy. For example, I used to buy all my clothing from fast fashion (H&M, Forever 21, etc.), but I’ve learned over time that the quality is not the best and most of their clothing is made using non-eco friendly materials which can wreak havoc on our environment when disposed of carelessly. Nowadays I try my best to look for high quality items that were made with eco friendly materials. If you’re not sure about the quality of the clothing, just ask. If they’re not…
