10 Workplace Problems Only Highly Sensitive People Will Understand
It can be tough to stand up for yourself. It’s even tougher when we’re constantly judged and disliked for remaining true to our values and sticking to what we know is best. But if you’re a highly sensitive person, like me, it might seem like everything you do or say is wrong.
I’m extremely sensitive, and I know many other highly sensitive people like me. We’re typically anxious, shy, and introspective. Though highly sensitive people (HSPs) can often feel like social outcasts, we make wonderful counselors for other HSPs who are anxious about making friends or taking their careers seriously. HSPs are deeply empathic, giving us the ability to see the inner world of others — and it can be exhausting!
Yet our understanding is valuable to others who have difficulty being seen by the outside world. I hope you’ll find these 10 problems that only HSPs will understand helpful.
1. People don’t realize you have emotions too.
If you’re a HSP, you probably push your emotions to a side a lot of the time. It can be exhausting to listen to other people whinge and whine at you all the time. While everyone needs a good vent once in a while, HSPs can’t filter other people’s emotions for too long or they’ll end up feeling emotionally drained.
