The power of self-talk can be huge. But what is self-talk and how can you use it to change your life?

As we go through our day, we often have a running dialogue in our head. This voice in our head is called “self-talk” and it can either help or hinder our success and happiness. More than 90% of the thoughts we think are negative, which creates a toxic cycle that renders us powerless to move forward on some tasks or even some areas of life that we really want to improve.

If you are feeling overwhelmed, depressed, unmotivated or just unhappy, your self-talk could be the problem. Plus, if you are always complaining about life or other people to others, then it’s just as likely that you are drowning out any good self-talk you could have in your head.

If this is the case for you, it’s time to change your self-talk patterns so that they start working for you instead of against you.

1. Refuse to think all negative thoughts.

This is the first step, but it’s also one of the hardest because it requires you to go against all conventional wisdom, which tells us that there is power in positive thinking.
