10 Pieces of Practical Wisdom I Learned from my Parents about Life

When I was a little girl, my father used to tell me to be careful what I wished for. That advice has stayed with me and is one of the most important lessons I’ve learned.

I think it’s even more important now, as we get older and start thinking about how we want to live our lives.

We need to stop thinking about what would make life easier and focus on what would make our life better.

There are a few practical principles that I’ve learned along the way that have made such a difference in my life (and they’re not just for older people!).

Here are a few that have made a real impact.

1. Always have a glass of water next to you.

This has been one of the best things I’ve learned in my adult life. When you get thirsty, it’s not hard to get a glass from the kitchen.

But when you get really thirsty, there’s no substitute for water at hand.

So your glass of water should be there very time you’re thirsty and whenever possible, refill it mid-session if it gets less than half full. This is a habit that will change your life for the better!
